The Rhône-Alpes region ranks 10th of the major European regions, which makes it a highly popular location for conducting international business. It has exceptional assets and has the second largest forest region in France with 1 540 000 ha planted.

There are legions (10 200) of mostly small firms in the Rhône-Alpes sector offering a variety of skills - forestry operations, sawmills, joinery, carpentry, builders, furniture makers, timber merchants and a major paper board industry. A total of 41300 people make their living through the forestry-wood sector.

CHANTIER REFUGE TÊTE ROUSSE

Wood is everywhere in Rhône-Alpes from vast forest landscapes with private homes and is also used in major public works. The number of wooden houses accounts for up to 20% of private housing in the Alpine departments, which is 4 times higher than the national average.
